Nizoral Cream (Ketoconazole 2%)

Nizoral Cream is a topical antifungal medication containing 2% ketoconazole, a synthetic imidazole derivative with fungicidal or fungistatic activity that works by inhibiting ergosterol biosynthesis, disrupting the fungal cell membrane and preventing proliferation. It is used to treat a broad range of skin infections including athlete’s foot, ringworm of the body and groin, seborrheic dermatitis, tinea versicolor, and cutaneous candidiasis. It is applied once or twice daily to the affected and surrounding area, and plasma concentrations of ketoconazole are not detectable after topical application, making it well-tolerated with minimal systemic absorption.
