Description

Galvus Met Tablets (Vildagliptin + Metformin HCl) is a combination oral antidiabetic medication used to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Vildagliptin, a DPP-4 inhibitor, works by enhancing insulin secretion and suppressing glucagon release in a glucose-dependent manner, while Metformin reduces hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity. This dual mechanism provides complementary and synergistic blood sugar control with a lower risk of hypoglycemia compared to some other antidiabetics. It is typically prescribed when single-agent therapy with Metformin alone does not achieve adequate glycemic control.
