Description
Moduretic is a combination antihypertensive/diuretic tablet containing amiloride HCl (5 mg) and hydrochlorothiazide (50 mg). It works by combining a potassium-sparing diuretic (amiloride) with a thiazide diuretic (HCTZ) to promote sodium and water excretion while minimizing potassium loss. It is primarily used to treat hypertension and edema associated with heart failure, liver cirrhosis, or renal conditions. The dual-action formula helps balance fluid removal with electrolyte stability, reducing the risk of hypokalemia commonly seen with thiazide diuretics alone.
