Description
Maxolon Syrup (Metoclopramide HCl) is a prokinetic and antiemetic oral liquid formulation widely used for the relief of nausea, vomiting, and symptoms associated with gastrointestinal motility disorders in both adults and children. It works by blocking dopamine D2 receptors in the chemoreceptor trigger zone (CTZ) of the brain to suppress nausea and vomiting, while simultaneously enhancing gastric emptying and upper gastrointestinal motility by sensitizing gut tissues to acetylcholine, improving the coordinated movement of food through the digestive tract. The syrup formulation makes it particularly convenient for pediatric patients, elderly individuals, and those who have difficulty swallowing tablets, allowing for accurate and flexible dosing based on age and weight. Commonly prescribed for nausea and vomiting associated with gastroenteritis, gastroparesis, GERD, migraine, and postoperative recovery, it provides rapid symptomatic relief and improved gastrointestinal function, though therapy should be kept to the shortest effective duration to minimize the risk of extrapyramidal side effects with prolonged use.
