Description

Diamicron MR is a modified-release oral hypoglycemic containing Gliclazide, a second-generation sulfonylurea used to control blood glucose in Type 2 diabetes when diet and exercise alone are insufficient. It works by stimulating insulin secretion from pancreatic β-cells and improving the body’s sensitivity to insulin, with its progressive 24-hour drug release providing stable glycemic control with once-daily dosing. Available in 30mg and 60mg strengths, it is taken at breakfast time, with hypoglycemia being the most notable side effect — particularly in elderly, renally impaired, or malnourished patients.
