Description

Stemetil 5mg Tablets contain Prochlorperazine Maleate 5mg as the active ingredient, belonging to a group of medicines called phenothiazine antipsychotics, manufactured globally by Atnahs Pharma UK Ltd and in Pakistan/India by Abbott Healthcare (Pvt.) Ltd., indicated for treating vertigo due to Menière’s Syndrome and labyrinthitis, nausea and vomiting from any cause including migraines, schizophrenia, acute mania, and short-term anxiety. Prochlorperazine works by blocking dopamine D2 receptors in various pathways of the central nervous system, producing antipsychotic, antiemetic, and other effects, with the antiemetic action evident within 5 to 10 minutes following intramuscular injection and lasting 3 to 4 hours. The usual adult dose for nausea and vomiting is 5mg three times daily, which may be increased up to a maximum total daily dose of 30mg, and it should not be given to children under 1 year of age or those weighing less than 10kg.
