Description
PHENERGAN Syrup (Promethazine HCl) is a first-generation antihistamine and phenothiazine derivative used to relieve allergic conditions such as hay fever, urticaria, and allergic rhinitis, as well as nausea, vomiting, and motion sickness. It works by blocking histamine H1 receptors and also possesses sedative, antiemetic, and anticholinergic properties. Commonly used in both adults and children, it is also prescribed as a pre-operative sedative and for the management of nausea associated with surgery or pregnancy. It should be used with caution due to its sedating effects, and is contraindicated in children under 2 years of age due to the risk of respiratory depression.
