Description
Glacu Eye Drops (Dorzolamide HCl) is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor used topically to reduce elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension. It works by inhibiting carbonic anhydrase enzyme in the ciliary processes of the eye, thereby reducing aqueous humor secretion and consequently lowering intraocular pressure. Administered as eye drops, it offers the advantage of local action with minimal systemic side effects compared to oral carbonic anhydrase inhibitors. It may be used alone or in combination with other ophthalmic agents such as beta-blockers for more effective IOP control and to prevent optic nerve damage and vision loss.
