Description

Epila Cream (Eflornithine Hydrochloride 13.9%) is a topical enzyme inhibitor that works by irreversibly blocking ornithine decarboxylase (ODC), an enzyme essential for polyamine synthesis and cell proliferation in hair follicles, thereby slowing the rate of unwanted facial hair growth. It is specifically indicated for the reduction of unwanted facial hair (hirsutism) in women, particularly in androgen-dependent conditions such as PCOS, and is applied twice daily to affected facial areas. It does not permanently remove hair but significantly slows regrowth, and is typically used as an adjunct to other hair removal methods such as threading, waxing, or laser therapy for optimal results. It is generally well tolerated, with transient local reactions such as stinging, burning, rash, and folliculitis being the most commonly reported side effects, and hair regrowth resumes within 8 weeks of discontinuation.
