Description

Xika Rapid Tablets contain Lornoxicam, a potent oxicam-class non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with powerful analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic properties, working by non-selectively inhibiting both COX-1 and COX-2 (cyclooxygenase) enzymes, thereby suppressing the biosynthesis of prostaglandins, prostacyclins, and thromboxanes that mediate pain, inflammation, and fever, while also demonstrated to inhibit the release of oxygen free radicals from activated leukocytes, contributing to its superior anti-inflammatory efficacy compared to several other NSAIDs. Lornoxicam is distinguished by its rapid onset of action, high analgesic potency, and relatively short half-life of 3–5 hours, which allows for effective pain control with reduced risk of drug accumulation, and it also stimulates endogenous dynorphin and endorphin secretion, adding a central analgesic component to its predominantly peripheral anti-inflammatory mechanism. It is indicated for the short-term treatment of acute moderate-to-severe pain including postoperative pain, musculoskeletal pain, low back pain, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, sciatica, dysmenorrhea, and dental pain, offering rapid and effective analgesia comparable to parenteral opioids in some acute pain settings without the risks of opioid-related adverse effects. Administered orally with food to minimize gastrointestinal irritation, the usual dose is 8mg two to three times daily with a maximum of 16–24mg per day; it is contraindicated in patients with active peptic ulcer disease, severe renal or hepatic impairment, bleeding disorders, aspirin hypersensitivity, and should be used with caution in elderly patients and those with cardiovascular risk factors due to the class-related risks of gastrointestinal bleeding and cardiovascular events.
