Description

Xarelto 15mg contains Rivaroxaban 15mg, a direct oral Factor Xa inhibitor specifically utilized at this strength as part of the initial acute treatment phase of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE), administered as 15mg twice daily for the first 21 days (3 weeks) of anticoagulation therapy, after which the dose is reduced to 20mg once daily for continued treatment and secondary prevention, representing a structured dose-transitioning regimen designed to provide intensive anticoagulation during the highest-risk period of thromboembolic recurrence. At this dose, Rivaroxaban achieves rapid and predictable plasma concentrations with maximum inhibition of Factor Xa activity, effectively preventing thrombus extension and embolization while offering the significant clinical advantage of a fixed oral dose without the need for initial parenteral bridging therapy with Low Molecular Weight Heparin (LMWH), unlike traditional anticoagulation protocols.
