Description

Polyfax Eye Ointment (Polymyxin B + Bacitracin) is a topical antibiotic combination used to treat and prevent bacterial infections of the eye and eyelids, including conjunctivitis, blepharitis, and other superficial ocular infections. It combines Polymyxin B, which disrupts the bacterial cell membrane, and Bacitracin, which inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, providing broad-spectrum coverage against both gram-positive and gram-negative organisms. Applied directly into the affected eye, it is generally well tolerated with minimal systemic absorption, making it safe for local ophthalmic use. It should be used strictly as prescribed, and contact lens wearers are advised to avoid wearing lenses during the course of treatment.
