Description

Piriton (Chlorpheniramine Maleate) is a first-generation antihistamine widely used to relieve symptoms of allergic conditions such as hay fever, allergic rhinitis, urticaria (hives), insect bites, and skin rashes. It works by competitively blocking peripheral histamine H1 receptors, thereby reducing symptoms like itching, sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes. Available in tablet and syrup form, it is suitable for both adults and children, though it commonly causes drowsiness, which can also make it useful as a mild sedative. It should be used with caution in patients with glaucoma, enlarged prostate, or those operating heavy machinery due to its sedating and anticholinergic effects.
