Novonorm is an oral antidiabetic medicine belonging to the meglitinide class, containing repaglinide, which works by stimulating the pancreas to produce more insulin and thereby lower blood glucose levels in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is used together with diet and exercise to control hyperglycaemia in patients whose blood glucose cannot be adequately managed by lifestyle measures alone, and may also be combined with metformin when blood glucose is not satisfactorily controlled on metformin alone. Repaglinide is taken preprandially — typically up to 15 minutes before each main meal — and the dose is individually titrated and periodically monitored by the physician to determine the minimum effective dose for optimal glycaemic control.
