Nevanac (Nepafenac Ophthalmic Suspension) 0.1% – Alcon Laboratories

Nevanac 0.1% is a sterile, topical NSAID prodrug indicated for the treatment of pain and inflammation associated with cataract surgery, approved in the US since 2005. Unlike other ocular NSAIDs, nepafenac rapidly penetrates the cornea and is converted by intraocular hydrolases into its active metabolite amfenac, a potent inhibitor of both COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes. One drop is applied to the affected eye three times daily, starting one day before cataract surgery and continuing through the first two weeks of the postoperative period.
