Nilstat Oral Drops (Nystatin 100,000 IU/mL)

Nilstat Oral Drops contain Nystatin 100,000 IU/mL, a polyene antifungal agent that acts by binding to ergosterol in the fungal cell membrane, causing increased permeability, leakage of intracellular contents, and subsequent cell death. Indicated for the treatment and prevention of oral candidiasis (thrush) in infants, children, and adults, particularly in immunocompromised patients or those on prolonged antibiotic or corticosteroid therapy. The usual dose is 1 mL (100,000 IU) placed in each side of the mouth four times daily, held in the mouth as long as possible before swallowing, and continued for at least 48 hours after symptoms resolve. Generally well tolerated; mild gastrointestinal disturbances may occasionally occur, and it is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to nystatin.
