Description
Famila 28F (Levonorgestrel 150mcg + Ethinylestradiol 30mcg) is a low-dose combined oral contraceptive (COC) that prevents pregnancy through three complementary mechanisms: inhibition of ovulation via suppression of FSH and LH, thickening of cervical mucus to impede sperm penetration, and alteration of the endometrial lining to reduce implantation likelihood. Levonorgestrel is a potent second-generation progestogen with mild androgenic activity, combined with ethinylestradiol to provide cycle regularity and endometrial stability. The 28-tablet pack includes 21 active hormonal tablets followed by 7 inactive (placebo) tablets, maintaining the daily pill-taking habit and reducing the risk of missed doses. It is also used for menstrual regulation, dysmenorrhea, and management of endometriosis-related symptoms, with common side effects including nausea, breast tenderness, breakthrough bleeding, and a slightly elevated thromboembolic risk.
